PRIVATE TOUR — 4 DAYS MOROCCO TOUR FROM CASABLANCA TO MARRAKECH

    OVERVIEW

Short on time but set on seeing the real Morocco? This 4 day tour from Casablanca is the most efficient way to cover the country’s highlights in a single loop. You’ll visit the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca and the Hassan Tower in Rabat, cross the Middle Atlas and Ziz Valley to reach the Sahara, ride camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes, and spend a night under the stars in a desert camp. On the way back, you’ll stroll through Todra Canyon, stay in the Atlas Mountains, and stop at the ancient Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah before reaching Marrakech.

It’s a fast-paced route through southern Morocco — imperial cities, mountain passes, Berber villages, and the desert — all in four days.

Every itinerary is fully customisable to suit your preferences and pace.

    ITINERARY

    DAY 1: CASABLANCA → RABAT → FES

Your tour starts with a morning pick-up at Mohammed V International Airport, your hotel, or wherever you are in Casablanca. First stop is the Hassan II Mosque — the largest in Morocco and the seventh largest in the world. From there we head to Rabat to see the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an unfinished mosque, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.

After lunch in Rabat, the road continues east to Fes. Dinner in the Medina is an option, and you’ll sleep in a traditional riad in the old city.

    Approximate driving distance/time: 331 km / 4 hours 17 minutes

DAY 2: FES → IFRANE → MIDDLE ATLAS → ZIZ VALLEY → MERZOUGA

After breakfast at your riad, we leave Fes behind and head south. First stop is Ifrane, a small mountain town often called the Switzerland of Morocco for its alpine look. We then carry on across the Middle Atlas, pausing in a cedar forest for a chance to see Barbary macaques in the wild. Lunch is at a roadside restaurant. From there the route crosses the Tizi N’Telghemt pass and follows the Ziz Valley down towards the desert.

By late afternoon we reach Merzouga, a village on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Your camels and camel guide will be waiting to take you across the sand to camp. You’ll stop on a high dune for sunset, then continue the ride in.

A cup of tea greets you at camp. After settling into your private tent and a generous dinner, the evening ends around a campfire with Berber drumming and music — stars overhead.

    Approximate driving distance/time: 500 km / 7 hours 30 minutes

DAY 3: MERZOUGA → RISSANI → TODRA CANYON → DADES VALLEY

An early wake-up is worth it — sunrise over the dunes is the moment most people remember. After breakfast at camp, you’ll head back to Merzouga by camel or 4×4.

If it’s a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, we can drop into the traditional souk in Rissani. From there the road climbs to Tinghir, with a panoramic stop over palm groves and Berber villages along the way. We continue along the Todra river until we reach the canyon itself — a deep slot with cliffs rising around 300 metres on either side.

In the afternoon we drive on to the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the geological formations left by a seabed that disappeared millions of years ago, then enjoy a panoramic view of the famous winding road before checking in at your hotel.

    Approximate driving distance/time: 310 km / 5 hours

DAY 4: DADES VALLEY → OUARZAZATE → AIT BEN HADDOU → HIGH ATLAS → MARRAKECH

Final day. After breakfast, we drive towards Ouarzazate via Kalaat M’Gouna, a town famous for the Valley of Roses in spring. In Ouarzazate, there’s an optional stop at Atlas Studios — one of the largest film sets in the world.

Next is Ait Ben Haddou, a striking example of earthen architecture and a UNESCO-listed site. The fortified village has been used as a set for Prince of Persia, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, and stood in as Yunkai in Game of Thrones.

From there the road climbs into the High Atlas and over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass at 2260 metres (7415 ft). A few scenic stops and you’ll arrive in Marrakech, where the tour ends with drop-off at your riad.

    Approximate driving distance/time: 353 km

    FAQ

How do I book a tour, and what are the payment terms?

To secure your reservation, we require a percentage deposit (payable via PayPal or Credit Card) at the time of booking. The remaining balance can be paid in cash (Euros, US Dollars, or Moroccan Dirhams) to your driver upon pick-up at the start of your tour. You may also choose to pay the full amount in advance via card or PayPal, though a standard transaction fee may apply.

    What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that travel plans can change. Generally, if you cancel well in advance (two months or more), you will receive a full refund. Cancellations made closer to the departure date may be subject to partial refunds or fees, while last-minute cancellations within a week of the tour are typically non-refundable. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to adjust your dates.

Can I change or modify my private itinerary?

Absolutely. Our private tours are fully flexible. We want your trip to be perfect, so if you wish to adjust your itinerary, simply let us know. We kindly request that any significant changes be communicated at least two weeks before your tour begins so we can make the necessary arrangements with hotels and guides.

Is Morocco a safe destination for tourists?

Yes, Morocco is considered a very safe destination for travelers. The country has a low crime rate, and Moroccan people are globally renowned for their warmth and generous hospitality.

Are there physical restrictions for certain activities?

Our tours are designed to be enjoyed by everyone, but certain activities require a basic level of fitness. For example, we advise against camel trekking for pregnant women, individuals who have recently undergone surgery, those with severe back issues, or travelers over the age of 70. We can always arrange comfortable 4×4 transportation to the desert camps as a great alternative!

What essential items should I pack?

We recommend packing comfortable, sturdy walking shoes for exploring medinas and ancient ruins. Bring a hat, high-SPF sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and your camera. If your tour includes a desert overnight stay, it is crucial to pack warm layers (like a fleece or jacket), as temperatures drop significantly in the Sahara at night.

    Tour Customizations & Logistics

Are your tours suitable for families and children? Yes! Morocco is a fantastic family destination. Our guided city tours, desert camps, and activities are highly family-friendly and can be adapted to suit the pace and interests of travelers of all ages.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs? Certainly. Moroccan cuisine is diverse and adaptable. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have specific food allergies, simply inform us at the time of booking, and we will ensure your dietary needs are fully met throughout your journey.

Can we add optional activities to our tour? Yes, adventure awaits! We can easily add optional excursions to your itinerary, such as ATV quad biking, sandboarding down the dunes, or buggy tours in the desert. Just let us know what you are interested in.

Can we do a day trip to the Sahara Desert? Because the true Sahara Desert (like Merzouga or Zagora) is located quite far from major cities—for example, it is over 600 kilometers from Casablanca and involves a long drive over the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech—it cannot be done in a single day. To truly experience the magic of the dunes, we highly recommend a multi-day tour of at least 3 to 4 days.
